‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.

  (Zechariah 4:6)

We are a community of Christians who seek to put prayer at the heart of all we are and do. Our aim as a church is to delight in God and display his glory, and he invites us to do this both privately and when we meet together.

Our needs as individuals, as a community, and as a world are many and great. We are all called to meet those needs through prayer in the name of Jesus. We believe that much good comes when we persevere in prayer, and that God answers our prayers to bring about his loving purposes for his people and for his creation.

We believe that God has chosen to work out his sovereign plans through the prayers of his children. And it is our desire to promote a culture of prayer in which we are constantly interceding for one another and bringing to the Lord the needs of individuals, the community and the wider world.

We believe that everyone is called to be part of the corporate prayer life of the church and we encourage joining together in prayer at all levels of church life, from prayer partnerships to church prayer meetings.

Here are some opportunities to pray together with others, which we invite you to join.

Homegroups

Homegroups are a central aspect of our life together, and prayer is a vital part of them. We encourage everyone at Magdalen Road Church to join a homegroup.

Prayer meetings

In addition, we meet to pray on a regular basis at different times. Currently this takes place online. If you would like to join an online meeting, please contact us at hello@mrc.oxford.org.

  • Sunday Morning Prayer from 9:45 to 10:20 before the morning service in Ash - come when you can and go when you must.

  • Every First Tuesday of the month at 7:45pm we meet to share news and things happening in the life of the church and world and to pray for them.

  • Occasional periods of Prayer and Fasting to seek God and bring pressing needs to our Heavenly Father in adoration, humility and submission to His will and purpose.

  • Ad hoc prayer and praise meetings, including joining prayer initiatives organised by other churches – keep an eye on the website for upcoming events.
