Angel TreeAngel Tree Project

The aim of the Angel Tree Project is to buy presents for the children of some prisoners who are unable to fund, or have opportunity, to buy presents for their children themselves. Prison Fellowship ask the prisoners what their children would like and then buy a present to the value of £10 matching the prisoners’ requests. Each father writes a message by hand which is then attached to their child’s present so the children have an individual message and have no idea that Prison Fellowship is involved in any way. Each present is posted at a cost of about £5 for most packages.

By providing gifts to the children of prisoners, Angel Tree lessens the devastation experienced as a result of parental absence by not only helping families to connect and build relationships, but by providing children with much-needed joy at a time of year that is not always so happy for struggling families.

This year Prison Fellowship are looking to raise £1,875 to be able to cover the costs of 125 presents. Each present with the cost of postage, comes to £15.

Peter Leaver has agreed to gather the gifts together and forward to Lisa Vernan, the project coordinator for Oxford, by mid November. Please give Peter or Gwyneth your gifts (or ask Peter for details to make a bank transfer) by Sunday 18th November so we can bless some of these families.
