Magdalen Road Youth

Youth circle of feet

Living as a young person in an ever-changing society is hard. School can be a laugh and a lot of fun... and also a massive stress. Managing friendships, school work, exams, and dare we say parents, all gets complicated! And on top of all that... there's the massive questions. Who am I? Is God really there? What's Jesus got to do with me and my friends? How do I follow him when everyone else is following something else? Should I even bother?

If you've ever asked any of those questions (or even if you haven't) and you're at secondary school, the Magdalen Road youth group is for you. We meet each Friday in term time from 7:30–9pm at the church building, and for various other events too.

What to expect

We start with everyone in together for a bunch of games, before heading through to the sofas for some time in the Bible. There'll be discussion and a short talk from the Bible before we split into different groups to talk more personally about how what we've heard. You won't be jumped on to answer questions, but you will be able to ask your own.

Expect to be encouraged. Expect to grow. Expect to make friends. Expect to have fun. Expect to get to know Jesus.

What else do I need to know?

As well as ordinary meetings on Fridays, we have regular social events and one-off sessions. Recent events include Laser Quest, a film night, and a "Grill-a-Christian" evening where a guest panel answered any question thrown at them. Every meeting's a good one to bring a friend, but these one-offs might be particularly good.

I'm in. What do I do next?

Just come along on a Friday, or email youth@mrc-oxford.org to find out what's happening on any given week. You could also check the church calendar. We'd love to see you!
